Our Neighborhood
Plymouth Church is located in the historic Brooklyn Heights neighborhood of New York City, directly across the East River from Wall Street and Lower Manhattan.

Brooklyn Heights was New York City's first National Historic Landmark District. Filled with well-preserved mid-19th century brick and brownstone row houses--complete with front stoops, bluestone sidewalks, and wrought iron fences--the neighborhood has preserved much of is original charm. Numerous trees and independent stores define this appealing “small town” community. It is neither inner city nor suburban, but a part of New York City that reflects its vitality and variety in a quieter setting. The stroller crowd and older children make it clear that this part of Brooklyn is popular with families, and young adults also throng the streets on evenings and weekends.

After morning services at Plymouth Church, worshipers can enjoy a stroll along the Brooklyn Heights Promenade with its famous views of the New York skyline, just two blocks from our church. A delicious Sunday brunch is available at one of the many local restaurants. The popular eateries and boutiques of Cobble Hill's Smith Street, the exhilarating walkway across the Brooklyn Bridge, and the invigorating scene in nearby DUMBO are also easily accessible.

Although Plymouth is located in Brooklyn Heights, just half of our members live in the immediate neighborhood. Many travel from the “brownstone” neighborhoods of Brooklyn--Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Fort Greene and Park Slope--as well as farther locations in the borough and city.
