Vacation Bible Camp arrives at Plymouth the last week of August, offering children age 2 through those entering 8th Grade a special world of VBC programs and activities.
Good News about VBC Volunteer Opportunities! We're busy getting ready for the best ever VBC and you don't need to be a child to be part of the fun and fellowship. This year the Children's Christian Ed Committee is hoping to run VBC almost entirely with Plymouth volunteers and we are counting on your help. Let's show our children what a community of supportive adults our congregation is. There are many options for volunteering, both weekday, weekend and weeknight, depending on your availability. This is not limited to active Discoveryland parents; we welcome all members to commit time to the next generation at Plymouth. Please contact Julie Veto or Kirsten Loreen, or anyone on Children's Christian Ed, for more information. The youngest kids (those entering 4th Grade and below) will take a trip of tropical exploration. The SonQuest Rainforest program – based on five life-changing Bible verses – transports young minds into a vivid rainforest environment of jungle sounds, sights and smells, where they'll dig into the Bible and meet Jesus in each day's story. Along with exciting and relevant lessons about living in their faith, children will also enjoy plenty of active fun and friendship. Our very youngest campers, the two-year-olds, can participate in VBC's "Nearly Camp" with an adult caregiver - a great introduction to big kid summer camp. Older campers entering Grades 5 through 9 participate in their own specially tailored VBC. The emphasis will be on off-site adventures and field trips to places of exploration and fun in NYC – destinations like Alley Pond (adventure course and environmental center), the Bronx Zoo and Coney Island. And, once again, there will be an overnight "lock-in"! Camp Dates: Monday, August 23 - Friday, August 27. Location: The Plymouth Church campus, indoors and out. (Enter and depart through Beecher Garden, Orange Street between Hicks and Henry Streets) Schedule: Camp begins at 9:00 a.m. with varying dismissal times based on the camper’s age. Children ages 3 and 4 are dismissed at 12:00 noon. Children ages 5 and up will be dismissed at 2:45. The 2-year-old children of “Nearly Camp” will attend from 9:00 to 10:45. Camp Fee: The fee for VBC is $100 for the five-day session; for older camp groups, there will be additional fees to cover the cost of field trips. How to Enroll: VBC enrollment is limited, so please be sure to sign up as soon as possible. The children of church members have registration priority. For a registration form and other materials, please contact Julia Rassmann, Director of the Ministry of Families and Children, through the Church Office.
