Welcome to Your New Plymouth Radio!
Definitions
Channel: A channel is the medium that the radio uses to transmit audio communications. There are five channels enabled on Plymouth Radios: Facilities Team, General Admin, Church Admin, PCS Admin, and the Emergency Line. ALL Plymouth radios have access to the Emergency Line, and is the line we will use to communicate information to all staff (including emergency situations like fire drills). Access to other channels depend on your staff designation.
Please see here to confirm which channels you have access to.
Scan: Scanning is the process the radio uses to listen for audio on a channel. All Plymouth radios ALWAYS scan for audio on the Emergency Line, so regardless of the channel your radio is set to you will always hear Emergency broadcasts.
Turning On and Using the Radio
See the photo below for further information
To turn on the radio, twist the dial at the top right of the radio. This dial also controls the volume, so keep turning the dial if you would like the radio to be louder.
The dial to the left (in between the antenna and the Power Knob) is the Channel Scanner. If you only have access to the Emergency Line you will not need to utilize this.
To transmit your own audio, locate the flat button on the left of the radio. Press this button, and wait for the beep and for the light underneath power dial the to turn red before you begin speaking. Once you hear the beep speak into the radio to transmit your message. Let go of the button when you are done.
Your radio will scan and transmit any audio from other people throughout the day.
Please turn on your radio when you arrive, and keep it on your person at all times. When you leave for the day, turn it off with the Power Dial.
Charging the Radio
At the end of each day, please turn off your radio and place it in the cradle to charge over night.
Radios must be TURNED OFF in order to charge. If you leave your radio on when you put it in the cradle the battery will drain, and functionality will be impaired.
